ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The BareActed Lex National Level Contemporary Legal Essay Competition 2026 invites participants to critically examine contemporary legal and socio-legal issues shaping India and the world.
The competition provides a platform to showcase research, analytical reasoning and legal writing skills.
ESSAY TOPICS
Participants may choose ONE of the following topics:

Artificial Intelligence and the Law: Should India Regulate AI or Encourage Innovation in Essay Competition?
2.
Right to Privacy in the Digital Age: Is Existing Indian Law Sufficient?
3.
Free Speech vs Hate Speech: Where Should the Law Draw the Line?

The Death Penalty in India: Constitutional Necessity or Human Rights Concern?
5.
Climate Change and Constitutional Rights: Can Environmental Protection Become a Fundamental Right?
6.
Uniform Civil Code in India: Equality, Personal Law and Constitutional Pluralism

Data Protection in India: Balancing Individual Privacy and State Interests
ELIGIBILITY
- Open to law students, judiciary aspirants, researchers, academicians and participants from other academic disciplines.
- Participants must be associated with a recognized educational institution, where applicable.
- Individual participation only.
- No restriction based on year of study or academic discipline.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES
- Word Limit: 800–1000 words
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12
- Line Spacing: 1.5
- Citation Style: Bluebook 21st Edition / any consistent legal citation style
- Plagiarism Limit: Maximum 10%
- Submissions must be original and unpublished.
- AI-generated content should not be submitted as original work.
- Submissions must be in PDF format.
- File Naming Format: Name_Topic
- No identifying details should be included in the manuscript body.
- Only individual submissions will be accepted.
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
